SPG with Lumon Guding

As a part of the SPG’s continuous effort in becoming good leaders of the community, SSBN Broadcasters dig a little deeper on the status and life of our National Treausure – The Indigenous Community.

SSBN Lead Anchor and Newly Elected SPG President Mary Alison M. Wong and SSBN Technical Director Reymark Melgar were accompanied by their Adviser, Mr. Andrew M. Enriquez, to Sunrise Gold FM (102.3) for a live radio interview with Mr. Godofredo “Guding” Marianito (A Tribal Chieftain and renowned community leader). Lumon (Brother) Guding welcomed the SSBN/SPG Team in his radio program: Dauga ang Dautan Pinaagi sa Maayo, last February 6, 2016.

In his program, Lumon Guding was asked by several questions related to our Indigenous Community (Lumads) and Leadership Values.

According to Lumon Guding, one of the common problems that the Lumad is facing is Poverty. He confirms that the government is doing something to help the Lumads, however such actions are not enough draw them from the poverty line. Lumads have also a problem in going to college education because our state college is far from where they live. He also wished that these Lumad learners should be given financial aid in college education. He added that people should value and give respect to the Lumads.

Lumon Guding said that we should value our culture and traditions. Students can show their love for the lumad culture by treasuring our cultural and traditional dances. He also stressed out that our cultural dances should not be remixed by modern dances and music, that we should preserve the originality of our traditional dances.

Talking about Community Leadership, Lumon Guding said that being a God-fearing Leader is one of the most important qualities of a Community Leader. A leader who has a love for God will surely earn the blessings of God, a blessing that will surely benefit the community too. He also described a Good Leader as a Good Father to his Family. A good father always think of the good future of his family. He always do his best to make his family better than ever.

Lumon Guding also perceived good leaders as working servant leaders. Good leaders do not just sit and give commands to their subordinates. A good leader shows what is right and what is good by personally doing his/her responsibilities, by deeds and actions.

10 Students on for a Journalism Battle

10 students from our school will be participating in the Regional School Press Conference Competition in Davao City this coming February 5 to 7, 2015. Mr. Olay, Mrs. Indelible and Mrs. Adlawan will be accompanying the student – participants as their coaches. The parents will temporarily shoulder their traveling expenses and registration, which will be hopefully refunded through the Special Education Fund Allocation. This is another manifestation that our school is one of the best institutions in Schools Division of the City of Mati.

School’s Honesty through a Board of Transparency

Our school has finally had a functional Transparency Board located near the gate of our school. This will help the parents and other stakeholders to know where and how the money of our school was used and spent. The total expense in constructing the Transparency board was 8, 600 pesos. The construction of the transparency board began last January 15, 2015 and was accomplished last January 23, 2015. This was facilitated by our School Physical Facilities Coordinator Mr. Bryan Ernie S. Bordas.

According to our School Principal Mrs. Lilibeth O. Canusa, our monthly school Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses or MOOE is more or less 42, 000 pesos. The MOOE fund is intended to finance our school electric, water and telecommunication bills. This is also used for the procurement of school supplies, instructional materials, trainings and seminars attended by the teachers and students.

This is to show that our school is honest in spending the money of our school MOOE.

Code of Discipline for Students – Now Approved

Our school’s Code of Discipline for Students was finally adopted and approved last January 27, 2015 by our school Principal Mrs. Lilibeth O. Canusa. This was prepared and formulated by our Supreme Pupil Government Adviser Mr. Andrew M. Enriquez. The Code of Discipline for Students will serve as a guiding principle and regulation on students’ conduct and behavior inside and outside the school. Written in this code are the things students are not allowed to do. We can also read the different disciplinary actions that a student may face if ever they are not going to follow the rules and regulations of the school.

The newly approved Code of Discipline of Students was also conformed and concurred by School SPG Mayor Jasmine Kaye F. Masagnay and School PTA President Pastor Almer S. Salva.

SSBN – SPG’s Official Broadcasting Network

SPED School Broadcasting Network (SSBN) – SPED Radio is the official Broadcasting Network of the Supreme Pupil Government.

SSBN SPED Radio started it’s official broadcast this month of January 2015 through the school sound system. As part of the School Campus Journalism, Mr. Andrew M. Enriquez wrote a letter to Mrs. Lilibeth O. Canusa asking permission to make the Radio Broadcasting Team functional in school setting – delivering the hottest and latest news to the stakeholders. The letter was immedietly approved by Mrs. Canusa.

SSBN SPED Radio has already delivered 3 sessions for this month of January. All of the News broadcasted by the team were school based. SSBN SPED Radio (English) is under the advisory of the SPG Adviser – Mr. Andrew M. Enriquez.

The sessions do not just involve news casting, but also music requests, text greetings, infomercials, and others.

Presently, the official Station Director of SSBN is Mr. Vince Anthony Albao (SPG Peace Officer) and the team’s Lead Anchor is Mary Alison Wong (A grade four member of the School Police Unit).
